Winter school consists of 76 academic hours of learning in the class and individual work that is additionally supported by the Russian-language community around you in Narva. Winter school takes place from 30 Jan to 12 Feb 2017.

The University of Tartu Narva College invites academic research papers for its XVI International Student Research Conference that will take place 21–23 April, 2016, in Narva, Estonia. The conference focuses on the fields of pedagogy, philology and culture, public sector, youth work, entrepreneurship and project management, and Russian language and culture.

From 1 September, the new acting director of the University of Tartu Narva College will be Kristina Kallas who, in addition to maintaining high academic quality, aims to develop the college’s position in society and role as the region’s opinion leader. The University of Tartu’s Vice Rector of Academic Affairs Mart Noorma said that deriving from its location, the UT Narva College has responsible tasks—advance the integration of two nationalities and be a partner not only to Estonian and European universities but also to Russian study and research facilities.

Since late June, a group of nineteen American students participated intensive Russian language course at Narva College of the University of Tartu. After eight weeks, the course is ending on August 14. All the participating students agree that Narva is the best place for intensive Russian studies. Lecturers in Narva College as well as in the students’ home university consider their progress of Russian language acquisition remarkable.

On March 19-20, 2015, Narva College of the University of Tartu is holding the 5th international conference “Reconsidering the Practice of CLIL and ELT”. The conference concentrates on foreign language teaching and learning and continues the traditions of international ELT conferences hosted by Narva College.

From now on, it should be much easier for students, guests of the university, inhabitants of Tartu, tourists and others to find their way in Tartu as a university town. The University of Tartu launched an innovative virtual tour that gives an overview of the modern study buildings and shows where they are located on the map. On January 18, a group of American students arrived in Narva to spend their next half-a-year studying Russian at Narva College. For these eighteen young students, the Russian course in Narva is a follow-up for their previous Russian studies in Moldova where they spent the first half of the one year intensive language programme.

From the academic year 2015/2016, Narva College opens a new curriculum "Information Technology Systems Development" to train qualified IT specialists for local Ida-Viru region. The curriculum is developed in cooperation with Estonian Information Technology College and the Institute of Computer Science of the University of Tartu. On December 10, the Minister of Education and Research, Mr Jevgeni Ossinovski, and the Rector of the University of Tartu, Prof Volli Kalm, will sign the bilatteral agreement of opening the curriculum. On October the 23rd, Jane Petring from Georgetown University (Washington, D.C., USA) is giving a public lecture on how to address the issues of environment and sustainable development in the English Language lesson. The lecture is organised by the Embassy of the United States in Tallinn in part of English Language Fellow programme. The public lecture will continue the tradition of public lectures in Narva College organised in cooperation with the Embassy.

From 10 to 17 September 2014, 25 young Europeans from 10 countries of the Baltic Sea region will meet in Tallinn, Narva and Ivangorod for the first »Baltic Sea Youth Dialogue«. By invitation of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) and the Körber Foundation, they will discuss and explore the history and future of borders and identities. Tallinn and especially the twin cities of Narva in Estonia and Ivangorod in the Russian Federation set the scene for their venture.

Narva is the best place for learning Russian as a foreign language, say 37 students from four institutions of higher education of the United States of America. They participated in the summer school organized in Narva College of the University of Tartu. The summer school lasted for eight weeks. Lecturers both from the United States of America and Narva think that the students’ development in language training has been considerable by the end of summer.
