Meelis Luht, former management board member of Eesti Meedia Group, will start work as the Director of Administration of the University of Tartu on 21 August.
Rector Volli Kalm said the new director of administration has been in charge of several different areas of activity in his career and is a top leader with international work experience. We can see his capability as well as his desire and ambition to actively contribute to the implementation of the university’s development goals.
Meelis Luht was born on 20 June 1970 in Viljandi. He completed secondary education in Ülenurme Gymnasium, studied physics at the University of Tartu and graduated from the University of Tartu in Marketing and Commerce in 1995. Luht has worked as an economics journalist in Postimees, and was a management board member of the Bigbank Group from 1995–1997. Since 1997 he worked for the Eesti Meedia Group, and was a board member and the chief financial officer of the media group since 2000. In addition, he has belonged to the supervisory boards of several media organisations in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
