On June 1st 2018, Narva College finished its second year admissions round for international students, who want to study at full-time programmes. This year’s admission round is the second for the college, and it attracted many more prospective candidates than the previous one. If last year Narva College received 50 applications, then this year the number is more than 3 times higher: 181 applications (as many as 140 people applied for several programmes). College can admit maximum 20 students from abroad that makes the competition about 7 persons per place.
In case of enrolment, foreign students are obliged to go through an intensive 1-year course of Estonian language in order to continue their studies in Estonian.
The most popular study programme is Humanities in Multilingual School (67 applications) followed by Information technology (52 applications), Youth Work (33 applications) and Primary School Teacher (18 applications).
The largest number of applicants are from Russian Federation (103 applications) followed by Kazakhstan (22), Belarus (10), Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine and other Eastern-European countries.
Previous year international students enrolled in 2017 successfully passed their Estonian language exams on B1 levels and now ready to continue their education. Out of 20 foreigners enrolled into the Estonian language year programme, 18 were able to pass it successfully, and half of them volunteered to continue their studies next semester in Tartu.
