On Thursday, 26th of January 2017, Narva College of the University of Tartu holds a seminar on multilingual and multicultural education. The speakers include Aune Valk, PhD, from the Estonian Ministry of Science and Education, who will introduce the Estonian concept of Multicultural Schools; Prof Minna Suni from the University of Jyväskyla and prof Natasha Ringblom from Stockholm University, who will introduce the multicultural experiences of Finland and Sweden; in addition PhD student Anna Kyriazi will speaks about the politicization of minority education in Europe.
The aim of the research workshop is to discuss the state of art in the research on minority multilingual and multicultural education. The workshop brings together researchers from European countries conducting research on minority education, on multilingual and multicultural curriculums and on majority-minority educations systems. It is a first workshop in a series of events organised by Pedagogicum Centre of Excellence at the University of Tartu and financed by European Social Fund and Estonian Ministry of Education and Research.
