Narva College welcomes international students

A group of international students have started their spring semester at Narva College. From February to June students will pass full semester load of courses in English language focusing on multilingual education and integration.
Students come from Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. During the whole semester students will get acquainted with various models of multilingual education and teaching methodology in multilingual settings. They learn from Estonia’s experience in developing language immersion programme and CLIL teaching methodologies in schools. Large part of the study programme involves real school practice in local Russian-Estonian bilingual schools or language immersion schools.
Kristina Kallas, director of Narva College notes, that this group of students are “a pilot group” and hopes, that in the future that Erasmus exchange semester becomes a regular tradition each spring. “Student’s international mobility, especially for future teachers and language teachers, is an essential part of training and we are glad to provide this opportunity for international students,” she added.
Olena Stovpak, an exchange student from Ukraine noted, that “I am attracted by the innovative approach to education applied in Ida-Virumaa region, which in itself is also very interesting part of Estonia. I hope, I will be able to extend my knowledge and put this experience into practice in Ukraine”

Five students are part of European Union Erasmus+ student mobility programme and 10 students are financed through Estonian Development Cooperation programme.
