On November 9-10, 2017, Narva College of the University of Tartu holds the International Youth Conference on Media gathering together experts, analysts and media producers from Estonia, Russia and Nordics to discuss and debate with students, scholars and young leaders over the modern information production and consumption. The conference is supported by the Nordic Council of Ministers´Office in Estonia.
During the two conference days, November 9 and 10, four main sub-themes will be discussed: elections and media; creating a virtual self: the social media world and youth; information wars and fake news; and media, youth and schools.
On the 9th of November there will be presentations of media experts from Estonia and Nordics among which are Darja Saar (editor-in-Chief of the Russian language TV channel ETV+), Julia Rodina (RUS Delfi chief editor) and Raul Rebane (Estonian journalist and communication consultant). Also on the first day starting from 13:00 three parallel sections in three languages will take place: creating virtual self: social media world and youth (ENG); hybrid threats: Information wars and fake news (RUS); and media and schools: digital and information literacy education (EST).
On the 10 of November there will be three different work-shops for youth to participate in and gain the real journalism experience.
